Stuart FCCLA Chapter

What is FCCLA?
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is a national student organization that helps young men and women become strong leaders through family and consumer sciences education. It involves approximately 4300 members in 138 chapters Nebraska and over 200,000 students nationally. FCCLA members develop and lead projects that address important personal, family, career and societal issues. FCCLA is the only vocational student organization whose main focus is the family. Program of Work
Below is a brief description of some of the activities we have completed in the past school year.
* National Program Projects - Our chapter completes projects such as Careers on Wheels, Tobacco is Trash Week and Bike Safety Week
* Community Service - Wrote and collected letters to soldiers, collected and sent military care packages, made pillowcases for Bright Horizons, planted at the school, delivered school recycling, and assisted with the School Walk for Diabetes.
* National FCCLA Week - Activities to promote our organization to students and staff at Stuart Public School and in the community.
* Created and published a cookbook "Cooking with the Broncos." Still selling for $10.
* STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Events - Members create speeches and projects related to areas of family and consumer sciences. In 2005, we had 17 members compete at districts and 7 compete at state.
* FCCLA Banquet - Members and families are invited to share in the celebrations of our year's accomplishments.
* Relay for Life - Members will be assisting with this event for the first time in the summer of 2004.
* 4th of July - Members create a float for the parade.
* Fundraising Projects - Members sold candles, as well as ran the 3-point shoot and Bronco Toss at the basketball games. They also work at the soccer and baseball concession stands. Members attending the National Leadership Meeting complete extra fundraisers to fund their participation.
The Stuart FCCLA Chapter is on the lookout for ways to serve and give back to the community. If your group/organization is looking for youth volunteers, or your group has identified an area of concern.
